The Spengler Cup is the oldest international ice hockey tournament and the second-largest sporting event in Switzerland, after the Swiss Indoors in Basel. Teams from around the world compete over the five days between Christmas and New Year for this coveted trophy steeped in tradition. Davos plays host, and more than 80,000 fans travel there each year to join in the excitement. Zurich supports this historical event as a sponsor.
Tradition and passion: Zurich Opera House is one of the world's most renowned music theaters. It demonstrates an impressive range and innovative strength with around 300 operas, ballet performances and concerts, ranging from the baroque period to modern productions. And with the fairy tale opera, its program also offers something for children. Since 2014, Zurich has been bringing opera to a wider audience with its "Opera for All" program, inviting members of the public to watch performances by the Zurich Opera House for free at open-air events at the Sechseläutenplatz. The live broadcast from the opera house projected on a large screen has now become a mainstay of Zurich’s cultural scene. The Theater St. Gallen’s amazing musical productions have been gaining attention. It is the only Swiss theater currently performing new productions of large-scale musicals at an international level.
